Ok, now students we are going to the form of present continuous tense. What do you know about present continuous tense?

Present continuous tense is a sentence or statement that propose something is happening now.


Pattern:

Subject + To Be present + Verb1-ing + O/Complement


Characteristics:

-Use verb1-ing
- use to be present (am, is are)
- plural subject (are)
- singular subject ( is )
- subject I (am)

Time signals:
-         now                              - at present
-         at the moment               - right now, etc.
Examples:

1. (+)  I am writing a letter for my family in the village right now.

2. They are swimming in the swimming pool now.

3. Phill and Bill are playing hide and seek under the table at present.

4. Mary Magdalena is singing a song  on the stage for win the Indonesian got talent contest right now.

5. (?) Are you writing a letter for your family in the village right now?

6. are they swimming in the swimming pool now?

7. is Mary Magdalena singing a song on the stage for win the IGT contest right now?

8. (-) I am not writing a letter for my family in the village now.

9. etc.

Simple Past tense
 What is simple past tense?
Simple past tense is a sentence that is used to express and show an event(s) that happens in the past.

Pattern: S + V2 + O/ Complement

Or
                   : S + TOBEpast +
 
 









Sentence with action verb
-         interrogative form: Did + Subject + Verb1
example: Did you go to the Campus last night?
-         negative form: Subject + did not + Verb1
example: I did not go to the Campus last night?
-         positive form: Subject + Verb2 + O/Complement
example: I went to the Campus last night.
Sentence with verb “to be”
-         interrogative form: was/were + Subject + adjective ?
example: Was he a teacher?
-         negative form: Subject + was/were + not + adjective + adverb
example: They were not at home yesterday
-         positive form: Subject + was/were + adjective +adverb of time
example: They were at beach yesterday.
